‘Consider politics as an opportunity to help others and not for greed’:
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang advises party youth activists ahead
of one-year anniversary celebrations.
Members of 18Plus4NDC, a group of young political activists, paid a courtesy call to,
Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice-Presidential candidate of the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) yesterday, November 30, 2022, at her residence in Accra.
The call was made ahead of the group’s one-year anniversary celebrations.
Speaking to the leadership of the group, the astute professor encouraged the youth to take
up challenges as role models and work hard “even though times are hard,” she
acknowledged.
Some of the topics tabled for discussions were education, innovation, health, and
youth capacity development. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed the need for the problem-
solving mentality and encouraged the group to be more practical in their thinking.
As the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Opoku
Agyemang faced many obstacles and challenges but overcame them all and contributed
significantly to the University’s current status globally before entering into active
politics.
She admonishes young people to consider politics as an opportunity to help and
empower other people and not engage in “greed.”
18Plus4NDC is a network of Social Democrats with the mission to educate and orient
young people about the principles and values of the NDC.
