It feel terribly sad as a Ghanaian! It is not funny anymore, it is just pathetic. At this point of excruciating hardship where one would have expected any well-meaning and sensitive government to be cushioning its citizens to have a meaningful standard of living by reducing prices of goods and services, it is otherwise in Ghana. Prices of goods and services meant for sustaining life such as food, water, drugs etc. keeps escalating day in day out and this government is sitting aloof.
What kind of governance is this?
And as each day passes, citizens keep losing hope and focus in life due to this unimaginable and unprecedented hardship of which you cannot even explain how it came by. Things moving from bad to worse, unstable currency, poor working conditions, high inflation rate, high unemployment rate, etc. just a poor government filled with selfish and unpatriotic citizens.
We thought we were relieved when the cedi started appreciating against the dollar where the NPP communicators were making noise all over the media houses and the internet as if the government has sponsored all families in the country with a life insurance, calling people hypocrites and unpatriotic for not talking about the cedi appreciating. Where are they now? Ghanaians need explanations and apology for all the deceit these stomach communicators have caused.
Now, the cedi is shamelessly depreciating once more and fuel prices have gone up and soon lorry fares are going to be increased, water tariffs going up about 8%, electricity which is not all that stable in some part of the country also have a rise of about 30% as at February 1, 2023.
Where is the hope of the ordinary Ghanaian? Is this the kind of governance we deserve? Where do we even start from? In fact this government has blatantly caused more harm than imagined.
It is high time Ghanaians realized that the NPP government has nothing to offer them in terms of development, welfare, education, meaningful life etc. except lies and empty assurances. This is the time we all (Ghanaians) SAY NO MORE to this cruelty, we need liberation, we are not slaves and we cannot be slaves in our own land. The only hope we have now is to bring back John Mahama and the NDC to change things for us.
