Growing up in an NDC family, politics was always a prevalent topic at our dinner table. My parents were staunch supporters of the National Democratic Congress, and their passion for the party’s sociological ideals was something I couldn’t help but absorb. While I, personally, didn’t consider myself a fervent believer in politics, my deep-seated faith in the NDC’s vision for Ghana couldn’t be denied. To me, H.E John Dramani Mahama appeared to be the visionary President who could lead Ghana to a brighter future on the global stage.
When I embarked on my professional journey as a blogger in Ghana, I made a life-altering decision to openly align myself with the NDC. I chose to be part of their cause and use my platform to campaign for the party and its charismatic leader, John Dramani Mahama. Little did I know the consequences this decision would have on my life and career.
Criticism and backlash swiftly followed. Many who once engaged with my blog content began to distance themselves. My association with the NDC seemed to deter potential collaborations, and I noticed that I was being sidelined by several individuals and organizations. A lady who works as a communications manager for an event company that could require my services 4-7 times a year approached me some time ago, indicating that it would be challenging to engage my services. The company mentioned that they had noticed my involvement in politics on my social media pages.
It was as though my unwavering support for the party had cast a shadow over my professional endeavors.
But despite the challenges I faced, I remained resolute in my convictions. I officially became a card-bearing member of the NDC, solidifying my commitment to their cause. The financial strain and isolation from certain circles in the blogging community were undeniable, but I held onto my faith and trust that H.E John Dramani Mahama and the NDC has the potential to make Ghana a better place.
Today, I stand proud as a dedicated member of the NDC, unafraid to show my allegiance. I recognize that my journey has come at a cost, but I refuse to let that deter me. To all NDC stakeholders and supporters, I extend this message: please do not hesitate to involve me in any of your activities. My heart and soul are aligned with the vision of “Ay3 Zu, Ay3 Za,” and I believe it’s the path to a brighter Ghana. Thank you for your unwavering support.
